The Junior Menâs side were 6-1 winners over Athenry B last Saturday at Coleman Park. Cathal Greaney from the penalty spot, Shaun Gallagher, two from Ruari McArdle and two from man of the match Benny Gallagher (pictured). Mark Fahertyâs team are now joint leaders of Division 4 along with city side Galway Bohs. The U17 boys lost 2-0 away to Bearna Na Forbacha while the U13 boys lost 5-0 away to Salthill Devon.
The U15 boys fought out a 2-2 draw against Mervue United B at Coleman Park. Craughwell took the lead early in the first half with a trade mark Ryan Cahill goal. Cahill spotted the away keeper off his line and took a shot from distance that left the keeper back peddling before fumbling into his own net. Mervue came back to level shortly afterwards but when Joe Jackson was fouled outside the box, Darragh O'Connor stood up and curled the ball over the wall and into the top corner to give Craughwell the half time lead. From the restart Mervue piled on the pressure and soon levelled again at 2-2. They continued to press forward and only for a number of fantastic saves from Craughwell keeper, Michael Joyce, they would surely have won the game.
Also on Saturday, the U12 boysâ development squad had an excellent 5-3 away win over Mervue United. Shane Tuohy (2), Matthew Faherty (2), Harry Barlow and Robert Urquhart were amongst the goals for Craughwell.
In Sundayâs only game, the U12 girls drew 0-0 at home to Kiltullagh.
