Club results from weekend of 25-26 April   27/04/2015

The U16 boys registered an important 2-0 win over a well organised Salthill Devon B team last Sunday at Coleman Park. The game reached the half time break scoreless but when United keeper Kyle Heverin pulled off an outstanding full stretch save just after the break, it sparked the home side into immediate action. Jack Lally, who was immense in midfield all day, played a precision pass into Alan Callanan who coolly slotted past the Devon keeper into the far corner. Later in the half, Callanan assumed hero status when his low strike found the bottom corner to seal the win. United now have two home games left in the League Championship, knowing two wins will clinch the title.

On Saturday, the U12A girls lost 3-0 away to Salthill Devon A while earlier in the week, the U18A boys drew 3-3 with Salthill Devon in their Premier League clash. Elsewhere the U15 boys lost 2-0 at home to newly crowned champions Moyne Villa in what was manager Dave McFadden’s final game in charge while a late Shaun Gilligan equaliser was vital in the U12A boys 2-2 draw with neighbours Colga.

This Sunday 3 May, our U18 and U12 boys are playing Connacht Shield Finals at Strandhill, Sligo against Athenry and Kilshanvey United respectively. There is a bus leaving St Michaels Hall at 9am on the Sunday morning for players and supporters. Only those that have pre-booked seats are guaranteed places, so please call Tom Cunningham on 083 4041284 well in advance if you are looking for a seat.
