Club results from weekend of 18-19 October   20/10/2014

The U16 boys joined Knocknacarra at the top of the Championship table with a 9-5 win over Kinvara United last Sunday afternoon. Cillian Dolan did put United ahead on ten minutes but the competitive exchanges in the first half hour pointed to a tight low scoring affair. However, all that changed dramatically when quickfire goals from Oisin Woodlock (pictured), Ronan Nevin (2), Adam Lawlor-Smalle and another Dolan long range strike left it 6-1 to the home side at half time. Manager Ger Fahy made changes in the second half and the substitutes made their mark with Troy Slattery (2) and Cian Egan completing the home scoring. Kinvara played their part in this entertaining match and kept United on their toes by scoring four of their own in the second half.

Both our U12 boys’ teams recorded league wins last Saturday morning. The A side had a tough 2-1 away win against local rivals Colga. Sam Maduka opened the scoring in the first half with Sean Joyce scoring United’s second after the break. Colga got one back late in the game to ensure a nervy last five minutes but Craughwell held on for a crucial away win. Aaron Dolan, Jack Regan and Thomas Pierce were excellent at the back while Conor Trehy was solid between the posts.

The B side were away to Bearna Na Forbacha B and despite playing in tough conditions, Craughwell went two up in the first half with goals from Tomas Barlow and Jack Gilligan. With the wind at their backs in the second half, United pushed on and won 5-0 with goals coming from Barlow, Niall Kennedy and Alan Higgins, who swapped his keeper jersey to score in the final minutes. Gearoid Meehan and Conor Rooney were outstanding for United.
