Craughwell United Notes 28-29 January   30/01/2023

Craughwell United Juniors hosted Tuam Celtic on Sunday afternoon. With seven regulars missing it was always going to be tough. The four U21s that were called up acquitted themselves well despite the final score a 0-3 loss.

At the same time Craughwell's U17 Girls were very unlucky to lose 2-1 at home to a determined Colemanstown team. Colemanstown scored first but Grace Keaveney replied with a splendid equaliser before half time. A breakaway goal midway through the second half put Colemanstown back in the driving seat but the United Girls kept fighting and were unlucky not to get the equaliser that their efforts deserved. In a good overall performance, Clare Coolahan, Kelly Hallinan, Alannah Farrell, Grace Keaveney, Millie Hussey, Keelin McNamara and Sara Craven battled hard and never gave up.

The U13 A Boys also hosted Colmanstown at Coleman Park and settled in well from the get-go;
United comfortably ahead 3-0 at the interval. Colmanstown were a trickier proposition in the second half but a strong performance from the Craughwell defense held out for a clean sheet. Two goals from Zach Keane and one each from Daragh O'Donnell and Ethan Beattie saw the hosts hold out and win 4-0.

Back row: Cathal Desbonnet, Charlie Nugent, Calum McMahon, Matthew Hardy, Max Madden, Alan Hallinan, Ashwin Juby.
 Front row: Jack O'Dwyer, Darragh O'Donnell, Zach Keane, James O'Dwyer, Michael McNamara, Charlie Duggan, Ryan Faherty, Ethan Beattie.

On the previous afternoon the U13 B Boys had a 3-0 win over visitors Kinvara. On the scoresheet for United were James Niland with a brace and a single from Oren Fahy.

The U13 Girls had a great bounce-back performance on Sunday when they travelled to Maree/Oranmore. A great strike by Isabelle Behan in the first half saw United trail 2-1 at the break. Two more goals from Isabelle and Aisling Mulveen saw the game finish 3-3.
