Craughwell United Notes 27 November   28/11/2022

Craughwell United Juniors  overcame Merve United B in Mervue on Sunday Morning. After ten minutes Cillian Dolan put Craughwell ahead after a quick throw from Eoin Fahy. Mervue equalized but United scored through Kevin Molloy to be ahead at the break. In the second half Craughwell added two more - a Daniel Grealish header from a Mark Cunningham corner and Eoin Fahy converted after being put through by Adon McFarlane. A strong performance by Craughwell - in particular Alan Callanan in midfield and Joe Jackson on the wing.

The U14 Boys continued their recent fine form with a dramatic late 3-2 win away to St. Bernard's on Saturday. Craughwell started well with goals from Jake Barry after a corner and Eoin Middleton after a break-away. St. Bernard's pulled a goal back to leave the halftime score 2-1 in Craughwell’s favour. In very blustery conditions, Bernards equalized midway through the second half to set up a dramatic final quarter. St. Bernard's won a penalty with a couple of minutes to go but Bobby Farrelly held his nerve to save superbly. With just a couple of minutes to go, United won a penalty at the other end - Tom Malone converted. This proved to be the winner in a very exciting and entertaining game.

On Saturday morning Craughwell United U12 Boys Maroon won their fourth game on the bounce - United defeated Kinvara 4-0 in tough conditions in Kinvara. Jack Flaherty opened the scoring followed by Edward Donoghue. Darragh O'Donnell finished the half with a well taken goal to leave the visitors 3-0 up at half time. In the second half Edward Donoghue continued his rich vein of form putting the game beyond Kinvara with his second of the day.

Meanwhile, the U12 Boys Navy had a hard fought 1-0 home win over Maree/Oranmore also on Saturday morning. Playing with the wind in the first half a dangerous Eanna Tormey delivery made its way to Zach Wholihan who struck home into the bottom right corner. In the second half, facing the elements, Craughwell stood steadfast - Donagh Cullinane in goal making some key interventions. Darragh Woods, Iarlaith Morressy and Jonathan Nolan all had solid games in defence, helping Craughwell hold on for the win.

Craughwell United U12 Girls beat Kiltullagh 3-1 in a competitive league match at a sunny Coleman Park on Sunday morning. Craughwell went ahead through Isabelle Behan early on. United moved the ball really well in the first half, Isabelle Behan adding a second before the break. The girls continued to press in the second half, creating a number of chances with Ella Whyte forcing a couple of good saves from the Kiltullagh keeper. Shortly after, Isabelle Behan sealed her hat-trick before Kiltullagh pulled one back late on.
