boys rallied from two goals down to overcome Moyne Villa 4-3 in an entertaining
match at
The U16 boys bounced back after two recent reversals when defeating Moyne Villa 4-2 in Headford. The home side took the early lead when a long range strike caught out United keeper Kyle Heverin to dip under the bar. Craughwell soon took the upper hand but it was early in the second half when the pressure finally yielded a goal for Jonathan Boland. Two more goals from Oisin Woodlock and Eoin Fahy gave United a cushion but Villa responded when finishing the rebound from a free kick for 3-2. United keeper Heverin made a great save from the advancing striker to save United, however, striker Ronan Nevin sealed the win with the last kick of the game. Craughwellâs wide men Boland and Woodlock were outstanding on the day.
The U18A boys lost 3-1 away to Premier League leaders Galway Hibs with Cillian McDaid scoring United's goal from a twenty five yard free kick while the U14 boys suffered a 3-0 defeat away to Renmore. Also on Sunday, the U12 girls lost their opening league match 2-0 away to city side Corrib Rangers.
