The U18B boys beat Corrib Rangers 5-1 in the GFA Cup first
round after a tough physical battle in Coleman Park. With the
city side taking the lead after only ten minutes, Craughwell regained their
composure with the equaliser coming from the energetic Malachai MacCormaic.
Shortly after, Conor Hamill gave the Rangers keeper no chance with a fantastic
strike which put United ahead, followed by a John Dolan goal giving Craughwell
a 3-1 half time lead. MacCormaic (pictured) scored two more in the second half to complete
his hatrick. Man of the match Ian Connolly was outstanding in defence in what
was Craughwellâs most impressive performance this season so far.
The U16 boys went behind to two early goals against Tuam
Celtic in their third round Connacht Shield tie at ColemanPark last
Sunday afternoon. Despite creating several chances and dominating possession,
Craughwell were never able to break down the resolute Celtic resistance who
held on for a 2-0 win.
The U15 boys ran out 5-1 winners over Colga B in their first
round GFA Cup tie at Clarenbridge on Sunday morning. Scorers for United were Cian
Waters (2), Eoin Conaghan (2) and Adam Cunney. It was a nice way to end the
year with special mention to Cormac Dooley, Adam Clarke and Cunney who stole
the show for Craughwell on the day.
The U12 boys travelled to Sligo on Saturday
and were impressive 7-0 winners against Yeats United in round 3 of the Connacht
Shield. Craughwell were four up at half time with Liam Mulveen opening the
scoring followed by Sean Joyce, Tomas Barlow and Aaron Dolan. The away side
continued to dominate in the second half with further goals coming from Sam
Maduka, Conor Rooney and Mulveen getting his second to round off a fine
display. Great performance from the lads and thanks to the parents who
travelled on the day.
