Club results from weekend of 6-7 December   09/12/2014

The U16 boys were 3-1 away winners over Cregmore/Claregalway FC in their first round GFA Cup match last Sunday afternoon. The showery afternoon made for slippery conditions but the football was very entertaining all the same. Craughwell took the lead early in the second half after a lovely through ball from Jack Doran found Oisin Woodlock who finished his chance cleverly. The home side upped their game and a free kick was headed home by their tall striker for the leveller. United took a while to get back into their stride until a well taken free kick from Mark Cunningham found Doran at the back post to half volley home for the lead goal. Craughwell soon took control and were rewarded with a third goal late on when a shot outside the box from Woodlock deceived the home keeper and sealed the win.

The U14 boys continued their good form with a well deserved 3-1 away win over Knocknacarra in their GFA Cup first round tie. Craughwell started the better and were two up after fifteen minutes with goals from Vincent Boyle and Adam Cunney. Knocknacarra got more into the game and were soon awarded a penalty. United keeper Michael Joyce brilliantly saved the penalty getting down low to his right to push the ball onto the post and then quickly got up to smother the ball. However, Knocknacarra pulled one back before half time to make it 2-1. The second half was evenly balanced with Joyce (pictured) pulling off a few more great saves but Evan Kelly settled matters to put Craughwell through.

The U12A boys were 6-1 winners away to Colga B in the Colleran Cup with goals coming from Sean Joyce, Sam Maduka, Sam Finnerty, Jack Regan and Conor Hynes. Elsewhere the U12B boys overcame their hosts Mervue United C on a 2-1 scoreline in the same competition with goals from Thomas Barlow and Conor Rooney.
