Club results from weekend of 13-14 September   15/09/2014

Craughwell United teams endured penalty shootout heartbreak in two Connacht Cup ties last weekend. The U12 boys drew 3-3 away to Athenry in their first round cup tie on Saturday morning but lost the penalty shootout 4-3. The U16 boys drew 2-2 in a great first round Cup tie away to Bearna Na Forbacha on Sunday afternoon. Ronan Nevin put United in front on the stroke of half time, but Bearna hit back with two goals in the second half to take the lead. However, Jack Doran then finished off a pinpoint through ball from Morgan Flynn to score a deserved equaliser for United. Extra time produced several chances for the lively away side but no more goals ensued. The resultant penalty shootout saw United bow out on sudden death spot kicks. The U14 boys also went out of the Connacht Cup after a 3-0 home defeat to a very skilful Tuam Celtic side.

In league action, United teams fared better with the U15 boys beginning their campaign in a 2-2 home draw against Salthill Devon B. Adrian Prendergast and Eoin Conaghan had put United two up, but Salthill managed to score two injury time goals to nick an unlikely draw. The U18B boys took the league points on Sunday afternoon after Bearna Na Forbacha B conceded their match while the U18A boys had an excellent but hard earned Premiership home win over Galway Hibs with the goals coming from Aaron Brereton (pictured) and Gavin O Toole. The U13 boys began their Premiership campaign at home to Tuam Celtic but never settled into the game and eventually went down on a 4-0 scoreline.
