Results round-up from 12-13 April weekend   14/04/2014

Craughwell’s U15 boys followed in the footsteps of the U14 boys when they captured their Divisional Cup against St Bernards last week with a nailbiting 2-1 win. Spurred on by great support in EamonnDeacyPark, United started brightly and after some sustained pressure, Cillian Dolan volleyed home from short range to give Craughwell a first half lead. St Bernards took the game back to United in the second half and were rewarded with an equaliser but Craughwell responded immediately with another well taken goal. Mark Cunningham swung in one of his trademark corners finding the in form Ronan Nevin at the near post to glance in a fine header. The game soon opened up with both teams wasting good chances but as time ran out Craughwell held on for a famous win. (see our Photo Gallery website page for all the Cup Final photos).

The U11 boys ‘Black’ team drew 0-0 away to Salthill Devon A while the U12 girls ‘Red’ team were also held in a scoreless draw away to Colga A. The U12 girls ‘Blue’ team fared better, running out 4-0 winners away to Moyne Villa B.

Then last Sunday afternoon, the U17 girls got back to winning ways with a 2-1 away win over Corrib Rangers. Craughwell went 1-0 up when Lisa Doran (pictured) expertly volleyed home a Laura Cunningham corner only for Corrib Rangers to level the game almost immediately. United went looking for the winner in the second half and it was Caoimhe Reidy who found it with a well struck shot. Craughwell then had stand-in goalkeeper Andrea Tobin to thank for some outstanding saves which helped the girls hold on for the win.
