U15 boys win Cup Final after great match with St Bernards.   14/04/2014

Craughwell’s U15 boys followed in the footsteps of the U14 boys when they captured their Divisional Cup against St Bernards last Tuesday evening. Spurred on by great support in EamonnDeacyPark, United started brightly and after some sustained pressure, Cillian Dolan volleyed home from short range to give Craughwell a first half lead.

St Bernards took the game back to United in the second half and were rewarded with an equaliser ten minutes in, but Craughwell responded immediately with another well taken goal. Mark Cunningham swung in one of his trademark corners finding the in-form Ronan Nevin at the near post to glance in a fine header.

Later in the half, Craughwell went looking for the clincher with both Cillian Dolan and Donal Mannion going close. To their credit, St.Bernards also poured forward in search of the equaliser but United keeper Kyle Heverin and his excellent defence bravely held out for a deserved victory. Captain Jack Lally was presented with the cup by Galway F.A. chairman Joe Keating afterwards, sparking great celebrations. This was an excellent all round team performance and everyone played their part. The boys deserve great credit for taking on and beating the best teams enroute to winning the Cup Final

Congrats to the squad. Heverin, Pearce, Lawlor-Smalle, Cunningham, O’Brien, Nevin, Fahy, Lally, Mannion, Boland, Dolan, Doran, Shiel, Woodlock, Callanan, Galvin, Egan, Creaven.
