Results round-up from 29-30 March weekend   31/03/2014

The U12 boys lost 3-0 to Mervue United last Friday evening in their Connacht Cup semi final in Mervue. Cheered on by the large travelling support, Craughwell started brightly with Ryan Gallagher missing a close range shot after two minutes and Alex Boyle bringing a full stretch save from the Mervue keeper after a great run minutes later. But it was the home side who drew first blood when Craughwell lost the ball in their own half and Ryan Corcoran chipped the ball neatly into the net. Both teams traded efforts without success until midway through the second half when Aaron Neary scored to make it 2-0. Craughwell pushed forward in search of a goal but were caught again when Charlie Filipe made no mistake with a fine shot to make it 3-0 on the night. Showing their renowned fighting spirit, Craughwell never gave up and kept going until the final whistle but on the night they were beaten by a very organised Mervue team. Special mention must be made of Cian Garman (pictured) and Sean Connaughton who were both outstanding on the night.

On a quiet weekend, the U15 boys were awarded the points in their final league game this season when Cois Fharraige failed to travel. Ger Fahy’s team will now prepare for their Division 1 Cup Final against St Bernards on Tuesday 8 April in EamonnDeacyPark.

The U17 boys were due to play Kilshanvey United on Sunday afternoon in Kilconly but the referee called off the match before kick-off due to pitch waterlogging. The semi-final has now been re-arranged for this Thursday evening in Coleman Park with kick-off at 6.30pm. The team will also be presented with medals immediately after the match for winning their League title recently. The U12A boys play on the smaller pitch at the same time, so please come along and support the teams if you can.
