U11s too strong for Corrib Celtic   24/09/2012

The U11A squad headed to Annaghdown last Saturday for their first ever Galway FA game against Corrib Celtic. We hit the ground running with some fine efforts from Dylan and Tomas up front but it was a great goal by Alex Evans that opened the score midway through the first half. It was one of many brilliant runs by Alex which tore the Corrib defense to pieces. At half time we led 1-0 and also made the sub changes.

With Ciaran Connaughton switching to midfield and Kevin Molloy moving to defence the game changed completely. Straight away Ciaran took off on a run from his own box all the way to the other box before passing to Lewis Ryan who calmly slotted home from close range to make it 2-0. Next up Ali Boyle had a few efforts before finally hitting the back of the net to make it 3-0 and at this stage we were in complete control. Next up Kody McCann made it 4-0 with another super finish while Ali got his 2nd to make it 5-0 shortly after that. It was a real team effort with everybody doing their bit to make this a winning start to the season. It was brilliant to watch the runs of the lads who were not afraid to take on anybody before giving great passes or having a crack at goal themselves. Only for Corrib had such a brilliant keeper the score would have been a lot higher as he made save after save to keep out some cracking shots from every angle. I am sure we will hear more about him as the years go by.

A big thanks to Corrib Celtic who made us feel at home. Also I would like to thank all the parents who travelled and cheered on the lads all the way to the end.

Squad: Tomas Barlow, Alex(Ali) Boyle, Darragh Conaghan, Ciaran Connaughton, Alex Evans, Dylan Fowler, Ben Keane, Glenn Lawlor Smalle, Kody McCann, Kevin Molloy, Lewis Ryan , Jack Walsh, Brandon Moran, Conor Geoghegan.
