Craughwell United Notes 12-23 October   23/10/2022

Craughwell United juniors had their 4-game winning streak brought to an end with a 2-1 defeat to Tuam Celtic on Friday night. Craughwell started brightly, a well delivered Kevin Molloy free kick was finished off by captain Daniel Grealish after only two minutes. Tuam came back strongly, scoring twice before the break. United competed well in the second half and were unlucky not to equalise. 'keeper Ari de Souza Neves kept the match in the balance with a number of good saves, but a second goal eluded the Craughwell men. The next game will be at Coleman Park on Sunday-week against West Coast United


The U17 Girls side were defeated 3-0 at home to Colga on Sunday afternoon. Craughwell competed well throughout with fine performances from Kelly Hallinan, Grace Keaveney and Keelin McNamara but the away side were just too strong on the day.

Craughwell United's U13 Boys A team braved tough weather and opposition in Abbeyknockmoy, St Bernard's. After getting back level with a Charlie Nugent penalty they were defeated 3-1. Meanwhile, the U13 B side had a 4 goal victory over Knocknacarra D in a wet Coleman’s field with Oren Fahy netting a brace and James Niland and Eanna Tormey also on the scoresheet.

The U13 Girls took part in an epic encounter at home to Maree/Oranmore on Sunday. The game was close throughout. A first half strike from Abbie Gilligan saw United trail 2-1 at the break. Abbie Gilligan and Aoileann O'Connor both netted in the second half to leave the teams level 3-3 in the closing stages. However a late Maree/Oranmore goal broke Craughwell hearts and sealed the win for the away side.
