Craughwell United Notes 15-16 October   17/10/2022

Last Wednesday (12 October) Craughwell United's U21 side lost their opening game of the 2022/23 Championship - a 5-4 thriller against Cregmore/Claregalway. Cian Garman, Kevin Molloy (penalty) and a brace from Liam Mulveen saw United come up short in what was an otherwise encouraging performance.

On Sunday the U18 boys had a comfortable win over Athenry giving them their 3rd victory of the season.

On Saturday the U12 Boys Maroon side travelled to Kilshanvey. Edward Donoghue opened the scoring, followed by another from Ethan Beatty before Edward Donoghue struck the net again. Kilshanvey then scored their first but this was soon followed up by a great header from Edward Donoghue who had sealed a hat-trick before half time. In the second half Edward Donoghue followed his great form with a fifth. Dara O'Donnell sealed the win for Craughwell before a late goal from Kilshanvey left the score 6-2 in favour of Craughwell United.

Craughwell United U12 girls had a thrilling 3-2 win against Kilshanvey United at Kilconly on Sunday morning. In a very competitive fixture, Isabelle Behan and Grace McGlynn goals saw Craughwell lead 2-0 at half time. Kilshanvey, as expected, came out strong in the second half and played well to level the game at 2-2. An exciting last quarter saw the game in the balance until Abbie Gilligan, having come close a couple of times earlier in the game, scored a great winner for Craughwell with just two minutes remaining for Craughwell to record a great win. Superb second half defensive performances by Beth Dillon and Clara Wholihan inspired a fantastic all round performance by all the Craughwell players.
