Club results up to weekend of 5-6 May   09/05/2018

The U12A girls (pictured) fell to a 3-1 defeat to Moyne Villa B in Headford last Sunday morning. Although Craughwell created some great early chances, it was Villa who took a 1-0 lead into the interval. United needed a quick start to the second half, and they duly got it when Tara Morgan found the target to level matters. However, Villa hit back quickly to regain the lead. Craughwell pushed hard for an equaliser but found the Villa defence difficult to break down, and it was the home side who scored a breakaway goal near the final whistle to seal the win. There were good performances on the day from Chloe Hallinan, Grace Keaveney, Grace Cunningham and Nicole Clarke.

Other notable results last week included the U12B girls who defeated Kiltullagh 1-0 to qualify for their Division One Cup Final. In a very tight game with few chances, it was Alannah Farrell who scored the vital winning goal from edge of the box. The final date against Bearna NaForbacha B has yet to be fixed.

The U18 boys also qualified for their Division One Cup Final with a 1-0 away win over neighbours Athenry B. Joe Jackson scored the important goal in a man of the match performance while United keeper Michael Joyce was in outstanding form to keep a third successive clean sheet in all three rounds. Craughwell will now play Oughterard in Eamonn Deacy Park next Tuesday evening at 7pm, so please come along and support coaches Vince Boyle, Steve Jackson and their team.

Also, congratulations and best of luck to our former player Kieran O Connor who will represent Galway in the upcoming U14 Kennedy Cup. The competition tales place in the University of Limerick from 11-15 June.
