Club results from weekend of 31 March - 1 April   03/04/2018

The junior men’s side (pictured) kept their promotion hopes alive with a 2-0 home win over Bearna Na Forbacha last Saturday afternoon. Craughwell were well on top in the first half and took the lead when Daniel Grealish played a lovely long ball through to striker Alan Callanan who took it in his stride and finished well. Bearna came more into the game after the break but a late goal from Chris Phillips sealed the win for United. Best for Craughwell were Alan Callanan and Eoin Fahy up front while Daniel Grealish had a very solid game at right back.

Earlier at Coleman Park, the U14A boys earned a hard fought 2-0 win over league leaders Corrib Celtic. United went close on numerous occasions in the first half through Darragh McCartin, Jamie Collins and Cian Geoghegan after some good approach work but the game remained scoreless at half time. Craughwell went in front ten minutes after the break when midfielder Liam Mulveen calmly slotted home a penalty kick. The second goal came five minutes from time when McCartin set up Tom Doran who finished confidently high into the net. A strong defensive performance by United kept Celtic at bay and the win maintains Craughwell’s second place position in the Championship league table.

Elsewhere, the U14B boys were defeated 3-2 away to Kinvara United with Daire Crowe scoring twice while the U12C boys kept up their recent winning streak with a 7-0 win away over Cregmore/Claregalway FC C. The U12A boys played against a strong Maree/Oranmore side in their Premier League encounter but a good performance was not enough to prevent the away side from winning on a 2-1 scoreline.
