With the inclement weather claiming the majority of fixtures last weekend, only two club teams managed to play despite the poor conditions. The U18 boys had a fine 1-0 win in their preliminary round cup match away to Bearna Na Forbacha on Sunday afternoon. Alex Boyle scored the vital goal for United direct from a corner kick. The U13A boys lost narrowly 3-2 away to Moyne Villa in Headford. Cormac Regan scored a cracker and Alex Duggan stabbed home the second but despite controlling the game for long periods, Craughwell couldn’t find the third goal.

Elsewhere, Craughwell United U12 players Alan Zimmerer (back row 2nd from left) and Shane Murray (back row 2nd from right) played on the Galway FA Academy team against a strong Mayo League team in a snowy Castlebar last Sunday. This follows the earlier league run outs for Conor Gilligan and Jamie Collins who are both expected to feature in future squads.

Galway United Coaching Sessions.

Our ongoing player development programme in association with the Galway United Academy coaching staff continues throughout February on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings at the astro pitch. In addition to these squad sessions, Alan McNevin will be doing a goalkeeping coaching session this Thursday evening 15 February from 7.30pm to 9pm for all our goalkeepers. After this session and depending on the numbers, Alan may split next month's session into two one hour slots for two age groups. Coaches are welcome to attend these sessions.
