Club results from weekend of 3/4 February   05/02/2018

Both our U12 girls’ teams continued their great form with two league wins last Sunday. The U12A side (pictured) were 2-1 winners at home to Athenry which moves them up to second place in the league, level on points with Athenry. It was Athenry who started strongly, and they duly took the lead following sustained pressure on the Craughwell goal. But for some solid goalkeeping from Ellie Brennan and good defensive work from Fiona Waters and Abhaigh Molloy, the away side could have being further ahead at the interval. The second half introduction of Grace Keaveney, Erin Doyle and Wendy Whiriskey gave Craughwell a shot in the arm, and following some neat play Ashling Whyte bagged the equaliser. With the game heading for a draw, a deflected long range Craughwell pass took a cruel hop past the unlucky Athenry goalkeeper to give Craughwell the win.

The U12B girls made it five wins from five with a 1-0 home win over Bearna NaForbacha, leaving them out in front on the Division One table. Ella Farrelly was the goal hero while Alannah Farrell, Millie Hussey and Chloe Callanan all featured prominently on the day.

The U12C boys were 3-0 winners away to Maree/Oranmore G with goals from Colm Campbell, Calum Brady and Eoin Woods while the U12B boys lost 2-1 away to Maree/Oranmore D with Jack Murray scoring from a Lee Whelton corner.

The U12A side kept up their challenge for the Premier League title with a 2-1 home win over Cregmore/Claregalway FC. Roan Budge and Adam Jordan scoring the crucial goals for United.

The U14A boys were defeated 2-1 away to Kilshanvey United with Liam Mulveen on target for United while the U14B boys had better luck with a 2-1 home win over Colga B. The Crowe twins, Aaron and Daire featuring with a goal each.

Our junior men’s reserve side lost 3-1 away to table toppers West United at South Park. Midfielder Gavin O’Toole scored when Craughwell were two down, but with Craughwell pushing hard for an equaliser, it was the home side who nicked the next goal on the break to claim all three points.

The U18 boys were defeated 7-3 away to an in-form Oughterard side with TJ Brennan, Joe Jackson and Alex Boyle all on target for United.
