Club results from weekend of 16/17 December   20/12/2017

Our junior men’s team advanced to the third round of the Connacht Cup with a 2-1 win over Sligo Premier League side Strand Celtic at Coleman Park last Sunday. Craughwell took the lead on twenty five minutes when Jack Lally ghosted in at the far post to volley home a Mark Cunningham free kick. United extended their lead on the hour mark when a fine run by man of the match Liam Clarke (pictured) took him by three players before finishing past the outstretched keeper. Craughwell spurned several chances to kill the game until Celtic’s own efforts yielded a late goal but United held on for a deserved win. Amongst the many other notable performances were central midfielders Jack Lally and Eric Callanan who worked very well together all afternoon. Elsewhere, the U14A boys drew 2-2 away to Corofin United with Dara Collins and Daragh McCartin on target for Craughwell while Liam Mulveen put in a huge shift in the centre of the park.

The U12C boys drew 2-2 at home to Knocknacarra E with Colm Campbell and Cathal Plower on the scoresheet. However the U12B boys played very well before eventually losing 2-1 away to a strong Loughrea side with Paddy Malone scoring the Craughwell goal.
