Club results from weekend of 23-24 September   25/09/2017

The Junior Men were 3-0 winners over St Bernard’s B in Abbeyknockmoy last Saturday. Jonathan Leech put United ahead in the first minute after a lovely through ball from Conor Lally. Midway through the second half, striker Ari DeSouza Neves was fouled on the edge of the box and duly scored himself from the resulting free kick. Alan Tormey completed the scoring when converting a penalty kick in the final minutes. The club reserve team were beaten 5-0 away to Maree/Oranmore FC with United midfielder Oisin O Brien putting in a commendable performance on his first start this season.

The U18 boys had a solid 1-0 win away to Bearna NaForbacha with Evan Cox scoring the winner while the U15 boys lost 5-4 at home to Galway Hibs in their opening league match at Coleman Park. Craughwell were 5-1 down at one stage but goals from Conor Hynes, Ross Whelton and Shaun Gilligan reduced the deficit and were unlucky not to snatch an equaliser with sustained late pressure. The U14 boys were knocked out of the Connacht Cup with a 1-0 defeat away to Oughterard but the U12A and U12B sides both progressed in the Connacht Cup with wins over the Cregmore/Claregalway C and B teams respectively. The U18 girls started their league campaign with a home defeat by Cregmore/Claregalway FC. Craughwell fought hard and were only a single goal in arrears by half time, but the away side showed their class to run out comfortable 6-0 winners in the end. Craughwell were well served by Roisin Phillips and Kate Craven who battled well until the final whistle.
