Club results from weekend of 13-14 May   15/05/2017

Craughwell United’s U18 girls were 2-1 winners away to Moyne Villa in their U18 League Cup semi-final clash last Thursday evening in Headford. Both teams were well matched throughout with scoring opportunities at a premium. Ruth Tansey scored Craughwell’s opening goal before the home side leveled and when Tansey was taken down in the penalty area, Laura Cunningham missed the opportunity to put United in front again. Aoife Raftery, Ailvhe Martyn and Veronica Creaven all went close in the second half but the game finished all square after ninety minutes. Then with extra time nearly up, Laura Cunningham raced through the Villa defence to slide the ball past the keeper for the dramatic late winner. Craughwell will now play Cregmore/Claregalway FC in the U18 Cup Final at 4.30pm this Sunday in Eamonn Deacy Park.

The U16 girls also played Moyne Villa in their Shield semi-final in Headford but goals from Veronica Creaven and Shona O Kelly were not enough on the day with the home side running out 7-2 winners.
