Craughwell United’s U12C boys (pictured) were desperately unlucky to lose 3-2 to Mervue United in their league play-off decider at Eamonn Deacy Park last Wednesday evening. Craughwell started strongly and took a two goal lead through Jamie Collins and Evan Moran. However Mervue hit back immediately with a fine long range strike to leave it 2-1 at half time. Mervue increased the pressure in the second half to score twice, but only for Evan Moran being denied twice by outstanding goalkeeping, Craughwell were denied what would have been a deserving equaliser. Superb effort on the night and all season from the squad, along with coaches Karl Zimmerer and Damien Gilligan.

Elsewhere, the U13 boys came back from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw away to Cregmore/Claregalway FC last Saturday afternoon. Darragh McCartin scored from a Kieran O Connor free kick just before half-time, then O Connor leveled the match in the second half after good work from Liam Mulveen. Aaron Gilligan was excellent in goals for Craughwell in a finely balanced entertaining encounter.
