Club results from weekend of 1-2 April.   03/04/2017

The U12C boys were the unluckiest team last weekend when losing 4-3 to Knocknacarra C in their League Cup semi-final at Coleman Park. After going two behind, United fought back with goals from Cormac McFadden and the impressive Evan Moran to tie the match in normal time at 2-2. Craughwell pushed on in extra time and were unlucky not to convert several chances. However, it was Knocknacarra who went ahead in the first period before being pegged back with an excellent free kick from Conor Gilligan who was now dominating from central midfield. A breakaway goal put Knocknacarra into a 4-3 lead but United continued to press with left winger Alan Zimmerer hitting the post while some great runs and crosses from Jamie Collins on the other wing failed to yield an equaliser. Huge disappointment for the boys following eighty minutes of intense football but some big challenges in the league still lie ahead in the coming weeks.

The U13B boys were involved in a high scoring encounter with West Coast United at Coleman Park; the away side prevailing despite Craughwell goals from Ben Brady, Oisin MacAindreasa, Matthew Faherty, Cian Irwin and Eoin Nugent.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Kieran O Connor (pictured) featured on the Galway U13 team that defeated Mayo 2-1 in Castlebar.

The U18 boys were 1-0 winners at home to MacDara last Sunday afternoon with striker Ronan Nevin scoring the only goal in the opening minutes. United were well served on the day by Conor Roche, Alan Callanan and Jonathan Boland. Earlier on Sunday, the U12 girls navy team were defeated 4-1 by Oughterard.
