Club results from week of 18-24 April.   26/04/2016

The U16 girls played away to Athenry last Wednesday and were full value for their 3-0 win. Laura Cunningham kept up her good recent strike rate with the first goal of the game and midfielder Aoife Raftery (pictured) followed her with another fabulous strike. Raftery scored again with a second half header to round off her player of the match performance. In a tough but fair local derby encounter, Shauna Tobin and Sara Phillips battled tenaciously in midfield while United keeper Siobhan Creaven made an unbelievable full stretch save to deny Athenry a comeback goal.

Also on Wednesday, the U12A boys drew 3-3 with Galway Hibs in Bohermore. Dara Collins twice gave United the lead but the home side responded each time to equalise. Kieran O Connor put Craughwell 3-2 up, only for Hibs to score a late equaliser. Then in the dying moments Danny Morrissey thought he had scored the winner for United only to be harshly judged offside and so it finished 3-3. Craughwell must win their final game at home to Corrib Celtic this Saturday morning and hope that other results go their way if they are to win the Championship League title.

On Sunday, the U18 boys played their final league match with a 3-2 defeat to Oughterard at Coleman Park. Jack Doran and Adam Rowan scored to bring the sides level twice, but the away side got a second half winner to see out the match in front.

Well done to Kieran Gilligan who won last weekend’s 50-50 Draw in Rafterys. Next draw in Cawleys this Saturday night with envelopes on sale in all the usual outlets.
